Our Proud History
Weir McDonald founded the company in 1926 under the name of McDonald Candy Co. He was immensely devoted to the company and considered the company his family. Even as a centenarian, he went into work for a few hours every day, up until the time of his death. Weir McDonald died in 2002 at the age of 103.
We are proud of our past and excited about the future of our company!
- 1899-2002 – Life of our Founder & Namesake – Mr. Weir McDonald. Weir McDonald worked until the time of his death at the age of 103!
- 1926 – McDonald Candy Co. founded primarily as a candy and tobacco supplier in Medford, OR.
- 1928 – McDonald Candy Co. moved from Medford, OR to Eugene, OR.
- 1959 – Moved into a larger warehouse on West Brodway in Eugene (our current location) and began operating as McDonald Wholesale Co., expanding into foodservice.
- 2024 – McDonald Wholesale is proud to continue to be the largest Oregon-based, independently owned and operated broadline foodservice provider.
